HQ-180 receiver built by Hammarlund in November 1959.
The HQ-180 is an 18-tube superheterodyne triple conversion (3035 Kc, 455 Kc, 60 Kc) receiver with continuous coverage from 0.54 Mc - 30.0Mc. A 3035 Kc crystal filter and a 1.5 Kc slot filter provide good selectivity. The 3035 Kc and 455 Kc IF amplifiers provide eight tuned circuits in three stages of amplification. The 60 Kc IF amplifier contains six tuned circuits and three stages of amplification.
The 18 tube lineup is as follows:
- 6BZ6 RF Amplifier
- 6BE6 Mixer
- 6BA6 455 Kc Gate
- 6BE6 1st Converter
- 6BA6 455 Kc IF Amplifier
- 6C4 HF Oscillator
- 6BZ6 Calibrator
- 6BE6 2nd Converter
- 6BA6 60Kc IF Amplifier
- 6BA6 60Kc IF Amplifier
- 6BV8 60Kc IF Amplifier/AM Detector
- 12AU7 Product Detector
- 6AL5 Noise Limiter
- 12AU7 BFO/Meter Amplifier
- 6AV6 1st Audio/Delayed AVC
- 6AQ5 Power Output
- 5U4GB Rectifier
- OA2 Voltage Regulator.
Power requirement is 120 watts at 105-125 VAC.
The unit measures 10.5" x 19.0" x 13.0" and weighs 45 lbs.
